Anyone try one of these? I've seen home made versions with out the adjustable neck. This one looks like it could be used as a mast mount for RDM, boom mount and possibly a nose mount.

Hi Coach, We got a bunch of those in at the shop and they looked great. For better or for worse, they sold out really quickly and I never got a chance to take one out of the packaging to get a better look at it. But yes, I think that it would be a great option for mast mounts, boom mounts, and maybe a nose mount.
I'm not sure how flexible/soft the bendy part is. It's possible that the bendy part would move out of position with all of the chop and bouncing that windsurfing rigs enjoy on a good day... If it's a problem, you can mount the camera directly to the clamp as a backup plan.
Hope that helps. _________________ formerly known as hodad.andy

I use the "roll bar mount" for the boom, but it would work on the mast or other locations that are tubular. Roll bar mount is a standard GoPro item, I think I paid about $20 for mine. Really versitile. _________________ Kansas City |

Andy, I agree that the flexible arm is probably not well suited for active windsuring video but I can see other applications for the arm outside of windsurfing. My main thought is to use just the clamp for windsurfing. I use the Gopro for teaching so the quick adaptability of the clamp is appealing.
rigitrite, I looked at the Roll Bar mount but I am hoping the Jaws can do everything that the Roll Bar does + more. My only concern would be in stability. The Roll Bar looks like it would be more stable because you can hand tighten it, but it looks awful slim so limiting the size of boom that it can be placed on. I was hoping someone had tried the Jaws clamp and could report on how stable the video was for windsurfing. I went ahead & ordered the Jaws.
