You can justify any action you want, but that doesn't mean it's a smart move. Even many Republicans thought that Cruz was irresponsible and poorly advised to do what he did. Yet, if folks like Cruz and Palin voice your mind and agenda, we differ greatly. In the end though, I'm confident that more folks will see it my way.

You, like Bill O'Reilly, have no idea how or why the tides -- or most other things -- work.

Poor Sarah, she just opens her mouth to change feet:

Quote:
Turns out Sarah Palin, who has been one of Duck Dynasty’s biggest defenders, hasn’t actually read the GQ interview that includes cast member Phil Robertson’s controversial comments on homosexuality and other subjects.

When pressed by Fox News host Greta Van Susteren whether the language Robertson used when talking about his opposition to homosexuality was graphic and offensive, Palin admitted she didn’t know what Robertson had said.
Specifically, Palin conceded, “I haven’t read the article. I don’t know exactly how he said

Wait, there's more. Those of you who read Doonesbury know that they have been riffing on trying to teach the Republicans in Congress how to communicate with women without offending them. Turns out it is true, and this comment by a Republican staffer sums it up:

Quote:
Let me put it this way, some of these guys have a lot to learn.

Does anyone now need to have me explain my referring to these guys as troglodytes?

Pretty funny. Maybe somebody should explain the difference of the first amendment to capitalism. Freedom of speech vs. business decision. As we turn the page to a new year, we can all be thankful that Ms. Palin has never , and will never hold any real position of power in this great land.

"...and will never hold any real position of power..."

Fortunately, that's true.

Unfortunately, she's a pundit. And some of those pundits *do* hold power. Consider Limbaugh and his ditto heads. Those millions of blind, uneducated, uninformed, clueless simpletons hang on his every word. And they vote.

One could argue that Fox "News" holds considerable power of the same kind and for the same reason. Their audience is not much different than the ditto heads -- and neither is that one Fox pundit different than the audience.

We have fake Christians, as well as fake conservatives. The latest "punditry" from Rush:
Quote:
(CNN) – Pope Francis: Successor to St. Peter ... the people's pontiff ... Marxist?

That's what conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh suggests, calling the Pope's latest document "pure Marxism."

Limbaugh blasted the pontiff on Wednesday, a day after Francis released "Evangelii Gaudium" (The Joy of the Gospel), a 50,000-word statement that calls for church reform and castigates elements of modern capitalism.

Limbaugh's segment, now online and entitled "It's Sad How Wrong Pope Francis Is (Unless It's a Deliberate Mistranslation By Leftists)," takes direct aim at the pope's economic views, calling them "dramatically, embarrassingly, puzzlingly wrong."

The Vatican issued the English translation of "Evangelii," which is known officially as an apostolic exhortation and unofficially as a pep talk to the worlds 1.5 billion Catholics.

Francis – the first pope ever to hail from Latin America, where he worked on behalf of the poor in his native Argentina – warned in "Evangelii" that the "idolatry of money" would lead to a "new tyranny."

The Pope also blasted "trickle-down economics," saying the theory "expresses a crude and naïve trust in the goodness of those wielding economic power."

And then there's dittohead organization Breitbart:

Quote:
In a far-ranging 50,000 word statement released by Pope Francis on Tuesday, he illustrated that he is sympathetic to the tenets of liberation theology and hostile to capitalism.

Liberation theology, which is a recent movement that essentially began at the second Latin American Bishops’ Conference in Colombia in 1968, believes that social systems that contribute to the economic state of the poor should be overthrown. At that conference, the teachings of Jesus Christ were combined with those of Karl Marx to call for violent revolution to overthrow capitalism. The text that emerged that was later used as inspiration was A Theology of Liberation, written in 1971, by Gustavo Gutiérrez, a Peruvian priest and theologian.
In September 2013, Pope Francis held a meeting with Gutiérrez, and L'Osservatore Romano, the Vatican's semi-official newspaper, published an essay describing it on Sept. 3. The essay asserted that because Francis is the first pope from Latin America, liberation theology can no longer "remain in the shadows to which it has been relegated for some years, at least in Europe." Michael Lee, associate professor of theology at Fordham University in New York, said that the experience Francis had hailing from South America "is present in the person of Francis and in the Vatican now in a way that it never has been before. What only makes sense is, then, a reopening of the door to this theology that emerged from that context and spoke so powerfully to it, and continues to do so."

Before the advent of liberation theology, Catholicism hated socialism and communism, regarding them as “godless.” Pope Leo XIII (1878-1903) wrote an entire encyclical condemning socialism.

Their only god is money.

The Teas have done something good.
The new budget is a bipartisan effort pushed through in sensible time with a little for everyone to love and hate.
Remember when almost all leg. was like that and we had a functioning government?
The GOP dropped the obstruction thing because they fear the damage that the teas plan to inflict on our economy to extort things from the Dems.
Many guys up there with brains who see the dangers and cost of Tea extremism.
Teas are oblivious. They have Breitbart and the Daily Caller to tell them what a good idea it is to damage the US economy, esp. small business, for billions and get nothing at all in return.
You just blame it on Obama.

KC--the sad thing is that there is a broad segment of people who are worried about the long term implications of Federal spending and entitlements. However, they are unwilling to establish a coalition with people who aren't really libertarians, and don't understand the first amendment. Bush had the balls to ignore the whackiest evangelicals when they wanted to control all aspects of women's sexuality. The same people are unwilling to establish a coalition with a party that is only to willing to countenance the racism of its fringe, and ignore the inability to actually forge compromise--much less do the math.

As long as the Dems just stand back while conservatives quote Brietbart to each other they will gain control of all of Government.
That will allow a Dem consensus and a much more liberal government to take power.
That will be a huge improvement over the terrible Gov. we inherited from President Cheney.
Not my first choice but anything is better than this.
