Oftentimes, NE winds here in the BayArea makes for light S to SW winds at Mavs, the favored wind direction.
Nobody wants offshore winds at Mavs, as the dropin is much too difficult going against the wind. A light onshore is best, and waves moving in at that speed still causes spray to blow off the top, even if the onshore breeze is as much as 6 mph.
