Looks like Hawaii got hit with some big waves and wind, with 40 foot wave faces at Hookipa. Sounds pretty cool. Wish I was there.... Any reports.

Saw some pics from Kanaha Web Cam, looked extreme...

My neighbor took this picture Thursday at Hanalei.
Wednesday was bigger but too windy for anyone to surf.
In the background that would be out beyond tunnels in Haena, usually never waves in that spot

We walked down to Jaws on Wed and Thurs, and watched the circus. On Wed, they were only towing in, and they were apparently filming a sequel or remake of "Point Break" and Laird was out for that. It was biggest on Wed but Thurs, the waves were cleaner and there was one guy paddling in, I don't know who it was.

The whole North Shore was closing out for 2 days, and it's still pretty big. There are still some really big ones rolling in. The pros were killing it at lanes today, huge clean faces but the winds are really tough to deal with. I was out at Kanaha this morning and only a few guys were able to make it out, and I wasn't one of them. Very challenging and frustrating conditions. These huge conditions are impressive, but I'd rather it was smaller so I could go out and have fun. I did take a few pics but they're not worth posting.

A friend sent me a video clip taken Wednesday at Hanalei. The water was an angry mess with breaks in four different directions.
