The Outer Banks (Hatteras)..........exceptionally cold for the the last few days (sailing without gloves a week ago). I always tell people to take a cooler of hot water when sailing in cold conditions to warm up hands and feet. I was glad I had the water today. The mast foot was frozen solid into the mast extension......and the downhaul lines were covered in ice (as was the entire sail). I wouldn't have been able to de-rig without using the hot water. The good news is that, after six hours at home, I have finally located my testicles which ran for cover the first time I went into the water!

Impressive. I have sailed in freezing temperatures but the water at the lake was 80 degrees ( cooling pond for a power plant). Even in those conditions, I had to drop into the water every other reach or so to warm up!

Ever heard of Baja? Highly recommend it as an alternative!!

Having scanned a couple of the other threads, my testicles and I have decided that braving frigid conditions in North Carolina is safer than staying at BajaBates Motel.

Have you ever hear a Fox News viewer talk, and think, I'm so impressed by how thoughtful and well informed this person is?

No? Neither have I. They usually sound just like our character here from the Great Northwest. Always hating something "liberal" going on.

Fair and balanced? They must be kidding, right?

Have you ever heard that same thing about ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, or PBS?
Heh, me neither, whoda thunkit?

Ocean or sound side? I hope you endured the agony of frigid temps to catch glorious glassy side off action at Izzy Beach.

I was "up North" at Windmill Point. The appendages I mentioned earlier aren't big enough to sail the Ocean in these conditions.
