Chandler...the irony is that Perky's proposal would actually hurt the Koch's of the world, as more and more regular billionaires would be influencing elections rather than the 10-20 that are now. |

It would be nice if anyone earning more than $10k per year would get 1 vote, and a constitutional amendment that would guarantee if there were another bailout that the bad players would lose all their net worth's via claw backs. |

For the record this is a stupid idea. Almost as stupid as allowing felons to vote.
One vote one person, rich people already have too much influence.
I would however be in favor of disallowing welfare recipients the right to vote for obvious reasons. |

I agree on the welfare vote. And...anyone who contributes to any campaign should not get the vote.... |

Or be assigned by the DOJ to investigate the DOJ or its agencies. |

The danger of having the rich have more say in elections is that they would start to skew the system in their favor to make themselves richer. Oh wait, they are already doing that through their campaign contributions and PAC's !
I would however be open to the idea of minimum qualifications to vote. For example:
1) read and write English - not to be xenophobic but a common language is what binds us together
2) graduate from high school - a certain minimum level of education
3) at least 21 years old - some experience in life helps
4) actually having paid taxes - more controversial but should people that don't contribute have a say in how the money is spent? |

Perhaps it's more interesting to consider the adults that live in this country and don't vote. What's that all about and why? Then there's the millions of adults here amongst us that can't vote. |

That is the system most people in the world live in every day. Turns out the rich don't have very good judgement.
Only the rich get to vote in Somalia for instance
We switched to universal suffrage just lately in this country.
Now the GOP is trying to go back to the earlier system with new voting laws like short registration times, no registering in the last two weeks, etc.
Those who defend this know this policy favors the GOP. They have no other reason to want to do this. Some GOP operatives involve in it got a conscience and came forward admitting that.
It works.
People with limited resources, big families to care for, or two or three jobs have trouble making it to short afternoon hours to register.
Angry old retired people have already registered long ago or have time and money to do so.
The GOP would like to end new voters registering at all. Young working people have contempt for Drudge,Talk, Fox, and endless wars.

If you have to pay taxes to vote who would that include?
Everyone down to young children who pay sales tax on candy.
If you can't vote if you are on welfare who would that leave out?
Lots of white people. The majority of welfare recipients are white.
More than 80% of welfare payments are to children. Another 10 15% goes to mentally ill, disabled or very elderly folks. The remainder mostly goes to the working mothers of those poverty children.
These folks have the lowest voter turnout of any group. If you took their vote away they might not notice.
The next lowest turnout is poor working people who do not get assistance. They think the system is rigged to benefit rich people and voting is useless.
They may have a point. See any poor people in Congress?
Try running for congress if you are poor.
The dude living on welfare, not working ,just having the good life on our tax money is largely an invention of the fake media. Unemployed men who could work if they wish account for .001 % of welfare recipients and there is a big effort going on to find them and arrest them.
The GOP is likely looking for them to use in ads but hasn't found one yet.
