Are we now touting Alex Jones as an expert on unbiased reality? This belongs on the drug thread!
The facts: crime trends with youth. Guns make it easier, but the trend is down--because of age, not because of gun control.
Quote: | Last weekend in Chicago, two people were killed and at least another 17 were wounded in shootings across the city. That violent outburst brought the city's homicide toll on the year to 146, according to the New York Times.
However, for all the tragic stories and headlines casting Chicago as the Deadliest City in America, the homicide rate in the Windy City is actually on pace to end the year at its lowest level since the the early 1960s.
Chicago has retained its stigma as a city with an out-of-control murder problem in part because of the shocking nature of the crimes. Many of the city's murders are gang-related, leading to a high number of youth casualties. In the most high-profile case of recent months, Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old girl who had performed at President Obama's second inauguration, was shot and killed by a stray bullet in January.
Through the first four months of the year alone, there were 93 homicides in Chicago. But while that would seem to be a depressingly high tally, it was a 42 percent drop from the previous year. It also marked the first time since 1963 that there were fewer than 100 homicides over the same period. |

Both Venezuela and Argentina have become brutal dictatorships where the news media, internet and large corporations are controlled by the government. People are being killed every day. It is too late for those nations that do not have the right to bear arms. Of course the corrupt government and police have the right to bear arms, and brutalize these brave protesters.
Please remember that Argentina had a middle class that rivaled the US in the 1950's. Watch this video and please ask, how these countries would look today if the citizens had the right to bear arms. |

It's not that simple. This started back in December when police went on strike across the country in Argentina due to wages. With the 20 provinces without police protection for weeks, mobs, gangs and looting started. Don't think giving everyone a gun would make it any better. It is a democracy as well, not a dictatorship. Cant verify the voting process though. |

Just because a countries leader is elected democratically, doesn't mean that it won't become a dictatorship. It happens. |

The video apparently has age restrictions, and on top of that, you must register with Google.
I have to ask, would you let your son see it? |

Until the Right and the disgusted 1/4 of the Congressional Left take more legal action against Obama's clearly Constitutionally prohibited changes to the ACA (save your breath, Weiss; I'm closely paraphrasing left wing constitutional law professors), it HAS happened. Those professors don't say Obama is stretching the Constitution, or that the Constitution doesn't expressly allow his dozens of unilateral pen-strokes and edicts; they say the Constitution very explicitly forbids most of what he is doing with the ACA and other legislation. e.g., picking and choosing what clauses apply or do not apply to chosen groups; fabricating his own timetables for implementation that SHALL occur on certain dates (Weiss and many of us know that SHALL is a binding, you-will-comply-or-else, legal term in this context, not a suggestion and not susceptible to dictatorial whim.) |

My tenant is Argentinian. He says the problem is poor candidates for elections and the economic collapse. He says that Obama bailed out this country and saved it from the fate of his.
He also said his country was saved by the lack of weapons out among the people. It would have been a bloodbath if it had happened here with so many irresponsible, angry people so heavily armed.
He agrees with Fred on that riot.
In the question of whether the crappy elected government is a brutal totalitarian dictatorship he has no idea what Bard is talking about. |

And this stands in stark contrast to the republicans who never, ever do anything hypocritical.

Unlike the Republicans, the Democrats asked for Lee's resignation right away. If he did those things he is charged with, he should go to jail. Unlike the "speak no evil of Republicans" creed of the right. |
