Found a used Ezzy panther 3 in good condition and ordered that just to be safe with the bendcurve and mast compatibility. Those maui sails look good though, guess i have to take a windsurfing vacation to the states and try out those sails Wink

With the new windchill charts, he won't freeze to death as fast as before.

I thought he meant a 3.0 which would be too big a jump and dangerous conditions.

I went for the 3.5. I used to have a 3.7 but found it to overlap a bit too much with my 4.0. We´ll see how this works out.

You can also post this question on mauisails forum. I think someone asked about ezzy mast and legend. If you still want to know.

Panther 3, is the series of Panther , its a 2011.

3.5 is pretty reasonable size down from 4.0

FWIW I had a 2.9 Panther 3, I carted it around for 1.5 years before I used it.

Sold and went to a 3.3 Panther limited. If its actually 2.9 I figure I will watch with a Corona

I asked maui sails how their Legend would perform on a ezzy mast. They replied promtly and said it would be ok and that some use that setup. I didn´t get any specific info on how it would affect performance.

I'm pretty sure the Ezzy mast is close to the Nolimitz. Using a Nolimitz with a Mauisails Legend never rigged just right. If I rigged properly by the upper leach the battens would stick well past the mast requiring me to over outhaul or physically push on the sail to get the battens to rotate. If I rigged for the battens to lay properly on the mast I ended up with the leach collapsed all the way to the mast thus losing tons of power. I didn't like that feel so I ended up getting a Mauisails mast. The sail had way more power with the Mauisails mast and sailed great, but not noticeably better than other wave sails.

The Legend is a very good sail if not highly durable, but like NP sails Mauisails are at the end of the chart so very mast specific.

I had decent results with Maui Sails 4.7s and 4.8's on the Ezzy 400s. I did not like the way they rigged on the 370/400 combo mast (which I thought would look better). I haven't tried the smaller sizes on the 370s.

For 2014, the Maui Sails mast curve a little bit more "standard"... i.e. not quite as hard top. I've got some new masts, but have yet to test them out yet.... look nice w/ kevlar wrap in the bottom section.

MS says the new curve is not too much different than the old curve so you can mix and match old/new masts and sails. Will know more when I actually get a chance to sail Laughing

BTW, I have a friend in Iceland who used to be a very good windsurfer when he lived in Southern California. I guess now he just surfs, but it would be good to see him on a windsurf board again.

This is him:

Thanks for the info on the masts/sails combo guys.

-and Kevin, i know Óliver quite well, and he and my brother are good friends. He has not sailed much since he moved up north (which has better surfing conditions than windsurfing) but is still the best windsurfer in Iceland. We took a little roadtrip last spring, he landed his forwards on his first reach and after a few runs his spocks and other freestyle moves came smoothly. Here he is doing a duck tack (i think) during our trip. Hope to meet up with him again this spring for some sailing .
