How about eye protection?

Count me as number 3 in the non-polarized club. I am going to go get
some for the mild beach trip though.

One size doesn't fit all. I won't sail without polarized glass lenses. I wonder if the polarized challenged persons think my yellow sails are green??

With polarized lenses I can figure the sail size without asking for help.

Polarized lenses make it appear about 1/3 windier than it actually is when looking at the water over a distance.

Now that you mention it I do rig smaller than most.

It's the same for me whether I am wearing my shades or not. My polarization only eliminates the glare. No fish or LSD things going on here.

Another example of how people see things differently.

Comfortable, durable eye protection....Rec Specs...I 've been using prescription sunglasses to sail for over 20 years. Rec Specs work the best for me. The strap to hold them in place is a part of the frame structure. Wrap around keeps water from splashing in at the sides. They may not look " cool " but they work great !

Even in flat water, polarizers are weird. They give a strange 3D effect on the wavelets. But I enjoy being able to see some rocks, weeds or shallow areas that cannot be seen without polarizers.

Back on track, I am a big fan of these for on water use, but unless your ears are very close to your face, you'll need to straighten the ear bend substantially. On my face, they don't fog, but they are really easy on the eyes (and they aren't polarized).

For over 25 years, I have worn prescription sun glasses with a strap that floats. Then my hat or helmet with a chin strap that keeps everything on. I don't recall ever having had the whole bunch washed off, but I don't surf sail either. Wet lenses have never been an issue. If wet, they dry in a couple of minutes at most.

However, I did lose one lens many years ago.
