Old friend of mine, a BalticYacht salesman in Sausalito, who lived on Sardinia for 50 years, told me Sardinia's W coast was as good as CrissyField's for wind consistency from late April thru mid June.
Some of you old timers, Crissy regulars might remember Roberto Fabri, whie haired and solid build, planned to retire back home someday....

I of visited Sardinia for a couple of weeks about 5 years ago. One week was spent windsurfing in Porto Pollo, where some of the windsurfing in that video was filmed.

I think I was there in late May.., and the wind was not so great. i got in a few good days, but supposedly it's much more reliable in July and August.

I did a fair bit of driving around exploring, and it is a spectacularly beautiful place, with some very interesting, if a bit eerie, bronze age structures. I was actually thinking of returning this summer.

I also did some cruising around the island on a sailboat, which is a great way to see the island.

I liked it a lot. like everywhere, there are a fair number of tourists, but mostly the tourism infrastructure that I saw was not huge and overpowering. there are lots of family-owned hotels and you can get away from the crowds.

Well, as regards the wind, luck is always important, even if, in places like Sardinia, you need less luck....
July and August are not the most windy period. I was in Porto Pollo in june, two years ago. In a week, we had two days at 30-35 knots, two days at 20, one day without wind (finally...!), and one day at 10 knots. So we had lot of fun. For further details, read here:

Why don't you share with us on www.waterwind.it your photos or videos with a brief text about your next or past sessions in Crissy Field's? You could just contact us by mail (waterwind2012@gmail.com). Or if there is someone who is available to write a review of that spot, it would be great! We are also interested in other spots!
Let us know what it is like to windsurf in the USA!!

Aloha! Fabio
