M. Price went the extra mile and took pictures and is working with iwindsurf to coordinate repairs. Hoping for the middle of next week. Gusty up and down the last few days....

Problem is the top of the mast is +15 ft off the ground with no easy way to get to it... but I thought about it
Besides, if it keeps blowing perfect 25 like today, who has time to risk life and limb, we're too busy sailing!

Looks like that pic depicts just how good Lopez has been lately.
Hea Mike, I've got a free standing 10' ladder if that will help, just ask and you can borrow it, you could put it on top of your suburban........ bada-bing, fixed!

Has anyone checked to see if the pole it's on comes down easily? Maybe it's just bolted to the base & could be un-bolted, laid down & fixed, then stood back up & re-bolted.

Easily? No, not so easy. And with older, perhaps fragile devices bolted to the mast, the chance of breaking additional stuff is high. And its not my stuff to break or mess around with. I'd like to remain on good terms with the IW folks as I been with them and call of the wind for a long time and value their services. If there was an easy temporary fix, AND I had IW permission, then I'd do it.
The good news is new parts are on the way. Some old legacy stuff will likely get removed off the mast making it more robust. The end result should be a sensor that is reliable for many years to come.
While the sensor has no absolute accuracy right now, it is still usable. When the wind gets above 20ish, the sensor blows away from the mast enough to spin a little bit giving readings above zero. Notice yesterday 11:30ish to 2:30ish >0 readings, I would say avg low to mid 20's at that time. Then it backed off and the sensor went back to zero. So now you know what time of day its been windy!

Again, picture says it all. Thanks IW for the new equipment and to the repair staff for a job well done. FYI, the top of the mast came in at 20 feet.
