steve gottlieb told me that exocet needs a minimum order of 15 boards in order to produce this priceles classic.
those that have owned them in the past, or have one that's getting a bit used up, would you want another?
i'm thinking i want 3. that ought to be a life time supply....
what board best suits someone that sails waves in 2-20 mph, onshore to offshore? i've tried lots. none better before or since.

I am interested. My trusty old Kona11'5" is luckily still hanging in there despite frequent wind-sup wave/ocean sessions but I keep dreaming of a new carbon version.
Any cost projections yet?

Hey John:
I resurrected an 11'5"

but only use it as a flatwater board.
Any ideas what a carbon 11'5" would weigh?
What is your feeling on strengths and weakness of 11'8" windsup versus 11'5"?
I saw a comment on the hot sails maui forum about dagger boards on longboards being a bit overrated unless one is racing.

windsup 11'8" vs carbon 11'5"
windsup is stupid easy. gets one wave sailing in some really light winds, allows one to teach. carries a huge range of sails. jibes with inside rail pressure or outside, planing or not. grabs waves early, way off the peak and way off the wind like no other.
windsup has a daggerboard, none are perfect. it weighs lots. it's massive, no aerials by me.
11'5" fast and furious if you want to be. let's say a squall hits, and you know it won't last. just sail the fugg out of it. grabs waves nearly as early as the bigger board. one board solution for 4-25 mph. sails uber offshores and ugly onshores. super acceleration to run away from trouble in barely planing conditions.
if one loses a plane, one must anticipate having to shift from inside rail pressure to outside rail pressure. one can sense this with some TOW.

Lucaro,
I feel daggerboards are a must for beginners. Having one on a board makes it quite versatile. As an intermediate, I used it yesterday in variable conditions. In order to keep planing, I often had to bear a lot downwind, so I was loosing ground. But I could make good use of long non planing lulls by kicking down the daggerboard and pinching upwind, and have fun again when the wind picked up.
Jinge,
Do I recall correctly that the 11'5 share the hull shape with the K1, but is much thinner? Is it US box? I guess Powerbox would make it more versatile and interesting for flat water use too!

22lbs would be nice! I think my 11'5" my be near 40lbs now, with repairs and some water. I suspect it was ridden with a pretty poor repair and took on water.
Still good though when riding. Only reason I would like a lighter board is carrying the thing. I added a glue on sup handle which was a big help.
