For a 100L FSW board with a sail range of 4.0-7.0 so far I have 2 North Sails X-Type sails 6.6 and 5.4 which both rig on a 460 SDM mast.

I know my 5.4 is not an ideal sail for this board but for now it will do.
I need to get a smaller sail, I was thinking about the North Volt.
Either the 4.7 or 4.5 size? I need to buy a 400 RDM mast for those.

I was wondering if the gap between a 4.5 Volt and my 5.4 X-Type will be too big? Ideally I guess I should get a 4.2 and a 4.7 but adding more 2 sails to a total of 4 for one board is too much.[/i]

I would recommend a 4.7. Any smaller, and you would be best matching it with a smaller board. Also, be sure to match it with a smaller fin to effectively minimize the volume of your current board when in rougher conditions.
