what? what do you think happened to them?

No telling, and in a deep sense. Electrons are indistinguishable particles.

We used to change out Chinook arms in our shop, but the other side had exactly the same milage as the one that failed, so it failed soon as well.
Ditto for field changing only one harness line to get back out there.
On the other hand, swimming your gear is a windsurfing skill that improves with practice....

Andy only sails one direction so no problemo.

It used to be common practice at any plant to design everything mechanical with a spare and to run that spare equal time as the primary piece of gear. Then, it was found out, similar to Keycocker's booms, that the spare was likely to fail while the primary was being fixed as they both had run the same amount of time.
So the solution was to run the primary unit for 2/3 of the time and the spare for 1/3 the time (this was done on a 24 hour basis usually) so that when the primary was down for repair, their was some confidence the spare would not fail during that time.
To apply this to windsurfing, we should use one side of our boom for 2/3 of the time and the other side for 1/3 of the time.
Sounds like one would need to get good at back-winded sailing. Laughing
