I've logged my 700 days at Crissy....
Wouldn't you want a flood board, like a fast freeride around 100 liters with a big blade fin and a 6 meter sail?
That, and your current setup, takes care of you needs.
As for Wads/Davs, you have the 85 liter board for all wind conditions in surf. Any lighter winds, it will die on you on an outside run. |

lots of different perspectives here.
i guess it all boils down to the conditions that prevail.
andy prefers to slog onto a wave with side shore to side off nearly always accessible in the outer banks. not so for most everyone else on the US east coast.
onshore conditions are actually more challenging than a flood tide at crissy. there's waves to deal with.
my perspective concerning wave sailing is way different than andy's. i have to deal with lots of onshore days, i prefer power first, then turning. if one has no planing and upwind power in onshore places, one cannot even get past the surf to begin with.
typical wave kit for me is an exo-wave 105, cross 114 or a planing longboard with a 6.2 or bigger _________________ www.aerotechsails.com

Typical wave kit at Wads, Davs, Palo would be around a 75 liter pure wave board and a 5 meter sail for 160lbs.ers. I'd always use around 70 liter boards, but 5 meter sails in typical 18-25mph side to side onshore winds in shoulder high surf, around 5'. |

Sail where you want in what you want.
I've sailed every wave riding spot on Oahu (ok, most, including Chuns/Lanikai, Jockos, and Magic Island, Oops, Sunset, EhukaiBeachPark, 7th Hole, Maile, most spots in NorCal and Baja, S.Oregon, but I sail mainly Berkeley and Larkspur the past 6 years, still having fun sailing 4 days a week.
It's snobbish to say "only wavesailng is fun".....
It's snobbish to say "only flat water is fun"......
When you done both, it's both fun. |

Not if one adds ... "to me". Then it becomes a matter of opinion, to which we're all entitled where judgement calls are concerned. |
