USCG Security teams will be deploying to and from vessels via Navy helicopters on Monday and Wednesday. The operations will be NW of the Island on the east side of the shipping/ferry channels and the red 2,4,6 buoys. A moving 1,000' safety zone will be centered on the Coast Guard Cutter Aspen which is the large black hull cutter that was always anchored at the downwind mark during America's Cup. It looks like mostly flooding in the afternoons and the zone and operations should wrap up by 4 pm, so I don't anticipate much impact on windsurfing, but give these guys a wide berth if you get out there.

A good waste of our taxpayers dollars ... in a couple of days probably just a few million dollars to continue the militarization of our land and water. |
