I never really noticed but those footstrap screws look very nasty. Why the wood types?
What material are the insert boxes made off? If you reposition your footstraps a few times what happens? They don't bite anymore really?
I bought 4 straps for my WindSUP and the guy from the surf shop gave me extra sets of screws with a wider tread crest. He said you need these after a while. But how many times can you re-screw??

Apart from that just tightening the screws is a major PITA. Last time on the beach I put all my weight on the screwdriver thinking I was safe with my impact vest. I did't feel anything right away but the day after my chest hurt and for two weeks a had a problem with a rib, I thought even it was broken but eventually it healed.
Anyway I haven't screwed the inserts yet, they are still virgin but I would like to try out the SUP with straps. Since it is a SUP which I will use for wave SUPing as we'll, the straps need to come on and off. Is there no other way?
What about using threaded brass insert like this:
Should such an insert hold in the box or should it be epoxied?

Welcome to the world of the windsurf shop employee.
I"ve set up footstraps on 19 boards a day, a few times in my life.
Mostly, it's 2-3 boards a day.
Proper screw, they each can be used over 5 times.
Most are polyurethane type plastic, so rough wood screws.
Some are machine screw and threaded, so check it out.
Power wrench's are OK if you know what your're doing, and it's NOT your own board.
Measure and mark before installing screws.

Anton- You can just leave the straps on when you SUP. That's what I do, anyway. It's more practical than taking them off and putting them back on all the time.
