I am considering a short vacation in OBX during second half of November. How is November from WS perspective? Any shops open ( Avon area)? I am looking for a soundside waterfront small house/condo - not interested in driving with the gear as I do every year in June/July. Thank you for the feedback .

Hi, I think most of the shops are still open at that point (Wind-NC definitely will be). Weather wise, you never know- sometimes it can be pretty chilly (5mm suits, boots, and mitts) and other times it'll be shorty weather... You'll probably see both in the same week Laughing

The chances of getting very good wind are pretty darn high, we tend to see a lot of solid northerlies in November...

Thanksgiving week is actually really busy here, feels kind of like summer traffic. Short term or last minute housing rentals will be tougher to come by that week, so if that's your moment of opportunity you probably want to start planning now.

Hope that helps!

Hi Zlipski, Just wondering if you ended up making the trip? It's been a pretty awesome few weeks with good wind, and temps all over the place! A few days in the 70s and a few days in the 30s, and of course everything in between. This approaching week is looking pretty awesome, especially Sunday/Monday at 70 degrees and 25-35 knots! Then a big batch of NE and mid 50s temps to follow. Should be sweet!

Hope to see you out there!

i had the pleasure of one of those mythic cove sessions over T-giving holiday many years ago. even as a total rookie in the waves, it still ranks as one of the best sessions ever. totaled a sail in the sandy small shorebreak, i had no clue.
