I second the Aerotech Dagger for a board with a daggerboard!!
progressivesports.com or contact Steve at aerotechsails.com
I paid a bit extra to get a UDL04 Dagger. It is unbelievably light, very powerful, stable, and a great motor for my Megacat. I have a 7.5 Dagger. |

That 8.5 Severne Focus that you have already looks good for a longboard use. It has 5 battens only /I wander why they did such a big size?!/ -good low end, light and not overly mast sensitive excluding that crapy Gun mast of yours. It will get overpowered quickly but you won't be using it in any thing above 15 mph anyway -you have the 7.5 Freeride for that.
Long board +the 8.5 and a around 120l modern short board +the 7.5 with good masts of course will do for a good lake quiver from 0 to 20 mph -or more if you are on the heavier side. |

Q) why is the GUN mast crappy?
wasn't Josh Angulo representing GUN
would not ride crap !!!
was looking at a GUN MC Wave 5-oh with matching mast
for next season I have offered Ittiandro to try my MauiSails 490/75 on his Severne ..
both live in Montreal - have not met yet .... |

The gun mast is not 'crappy' Joe. Neither are many old longboard sails only fit for light wind poodling. (Dismissive talk!) You'd think none of us ever knew what planing was before he, and the latest gear, entered the sport.
Some of us still see the point of using a good satisfying longboard Joe, and well regarded rig, old or otherwise. Just as we also like waveboards in surf, slalom boards for speed, and narrower any aged boards for classic high wind B&J.
In short, we are windsurfers! |

Clarification! The mast in question is a GUN "ADVANTAGE". It is a budget, low carbon content mast - the kind Josh Angulo will never sail.
http://www.gunsails.de/en/kat.php?k=187
Those kind of price point masts don't get much attention and can turn out with random quality and mast bend which was confirmed in the Surf mag test:
"However, the Gun Sails Advantage that turned out to be a Flex top mast destroyed the performance of the NS S-Type (the result would probably have been the same on a high end Gun sail as well!)."
My mistake was that I asumed that he is currently using this mast -the ADVANTAGE -based on an old post of Ittiandro in the Starboard forums. He explained to me yesterday that this mast-the ADVANTAGE -broke on him soon and he replaced it with a 50% one which would be the "Cross". Unfortunately Ittiandro's gear is inaccessible at the moment to make sure.
One more time -it's Gun ADVANTAGE only that I'm talking about !!!
SATISFIED ??? Not yet?!!
ADVANTAGE ADVANTAGE ADVANTAGE ADVANTAGE ADVANTAGE
How about now???? Just messing with you |
