3rd has a large sand bar way out by the channel marker. At 2ft+ tide
you are fine. But if you're "man-ing it up" at low tide, watch out, it's invisable until you hit it (more like rock than a sand bar).
Coyote has good swell too, just farther out. No shallow tide problems or many kiters there. |

More great info. I'm glad I checked back on here. Looking more like mid April for our trip. Good to hear the details about all the sites. Barefoot sounds like it could be an issue as well as my partners longer fins. I'm used to leaving sandals at the waters edge. Would this be a normal custom there or would they get stolen? Thanks again

April is a better call, I've kept records of what sail I used for the last 15 years
and April has consistently been better than March.
Coyote would be better for leaving sandals on the ramps, especially the western launch. Third has one narrow ramp that is heavily used and in the wind and surrounded by large rocks. No good place to leave them. Most who BF there, just tough it all the way to the rigging area. |

Another nice spot to consider is Tigers, located just north of airport and south of Candlestick. It is flat but 1) sails well on flood and 2) has sailable wind when no wind elsewhere. Nice access now from north side. Great place if you just "have to sail." |
