In case you got the itch to get out on the water, the ice pack has finally left Sandy Hook Bay and all is open for sailing/kiting. Forecast looks sweet for tomorrow. Hope to see someone else there besides me and the seals.

Don't know about Barnegeat Bay but I imagine its clear too. Especially with today's rain. Maybe someone local can report on the ice there?

Winter's over.

I drove down to Lavallette on Thursday March 12th and the bay was still frozen about 2/3 the way across. That said, with the rain and temps we've been having, I would guess it's pretty darn close if not fully open by now.

Thanks all for the additional observations. Looks like open waters for sailing/kiting throughout the coast. There was about 1/2 dozen kiters and a few sailors up at the Hook this past Saturday. Man was it good to get out again. Nothing like 2 months of snow and ice to make you appreciate the sport and build stoke for the coming months.
