Big swell running through. Big gusts too....
I went to Rowena at 4:00 PM, but it was not happening, and so I saw that swell was doing 21 at 5:00, so being 2 miles from home, I decided that it was worth a look. And I had a brand new OO to try out......not so new now. Broke in perhaps...

The last few model runs have looked pretty good for eastern Gorge wind Tuesday afternoon. Its a ways out to have a lot of confidence in the forecast but its worth keeping an eye on it.

Been watching that for several days now, but I also factor in the expected chilly air temps, overcast, rain likelihood, and spiky nature of these early spring drive-by blasts. Guess I'm no longer the sail-at-any-cost wind wrestler I once was, as I adhere more often to the air + water temp ≥100 guideline, hate rigging bigger all afternoon trying to chase the decaying wind behind these impulse function wind profiles, and actually like a little bit of quality in my wind.
Does this one show much chance of being an improvement ?

Gotta laugh ... what else we gonna do?
National Weather Service bulletin: prospect of an inch or two of hail plus maybe some snow at SEA LEVEL in western Washington Sat night.
Improving (what else COULD it do?) Sunday.

The forecast looks a bit more encouraging for this afternoon out east....at least the temp. may climb to the mid-fifty s... Jumping in 40f water in big winds is no longer my idea of fun. Call me a wimp.

The water temp is 49, the air was warmer Saturday than today, and the only weather that matters is the weather next to your skin. Some guys were barefooted, and I didn't notice anyone wearing gloves (the air was in the 60s before noon). Today looks to be chillier, cloudier, less windy, a bit more northerly (i.e., bigger wind shadow), and gustier than Saturday was.

Hah. I use the 50/115 rule. 50 degree water min and 115 degrees total (air and water). Until then I do other things (like WW kayaking). I have no problem waiting till those conditions. Okay I'm a wimp. But I am a warm wimp...
