Yea, whitevan, indeed heading "West" in August can been a great call too! Punta San Carlos can be awesome that time of year, and with SoloSports "all inclusive" all u need is basically not much at all!
Gear is all top of the line and the surf lineup there is great along with steady afternoon 5.0m wind.

Ive been there twice in August and though my second trip was kind of a bust for waves and wind, it was simply bad luck. The week before and week after were world class. However, when I was there the same week literally 10 yrs prior, we scored epic conditions!

If you go to punta san carlos, just be sure to bring a set of "clean" clothes in a plastic ziplock bag and do not open until back in San Diego. Though, if you go with SoloSports, the desert dirt remains mostly at bay.

hey outcast, Margaret has moved on from the OBX thus no more Avon Sail House. However, for sail repair, look up Dale Bendula as his wife runs a small sail repair business in Buxton and does an excellent job to get sails back on the water. Could likely check in with Andy at Wind-NC for contact info.

hope you all score while here! Weather looks to finally show daily temps leading with a 6 (60s) rather than a 4 (40s)! Now, hopefully the water temps follow close behind for the warming trend?! Though soundside, some folks may be in board shorts next week?! Very Happy
