Going to Maui on Saturday and it looks like there has not been any wind for a week now and the forecast for the coming week is as bad.
Anybody has some insight? Sad

http://www.nws.noaa.gov/view/prodsByState.php?state=hi&prodtype=discussion

Unseasonably light northeasterly winds…picking up some this weekend into early next week. Here’s the latest weather map, showing the Hawaiian Islands, and the rest of the North Pacific Ocean, along with a real-time wind profiler of the central Pacific. We find high pressure systems located far to the west-northwest and east-northeast of the state…and just to our north…along with a low pressure system to the north. There’s a trough of low pressure over the eastern side of the state as well. As a result of these weather features, we’ll find generally light to locally moderate northeast breezes with daytime sea breezes, and overnight down slope land breezes through Friday. It’s looking likely that a more normal trade wind weather pattern will become established this weekend. As we get into early next week, it appears that we’ll have our trade winds drop off for several days once again, which is very unusual for this time of year.

From Maui weather today
I'd suggest you get off the plane and sail Saturday and Sunday, then romance your wife.

Northern Calif has weird weather for May too. The Pacific Ocean still thinks it is March.
As said above mauiweathertoday has the best forecasts for the islands.

I like following this guys forecasts for Maui: http://www.hawaiiweathertoday.com/glenns-daily-weather-narrative/

If you read through his discussion of the trade winds, he indicates that they are expected to return early next week. Remember to check winds in Kihei if the winds are light and northerly on the north shore - often times the wind may be much stronger there. Have Fun!

Trades are forecast to come back late Sunday and hold through the week. Sailing should be good. If the low doesn't move quickly, as another post stated, Kihei may be the place to go.

Not old normal maybe new normal.
There is a stalled front between the Pacific high and Maui that is messing with the wind direction.
The iWindsurf graph for Kanaha shows the wind shifting North at about 2:30 just as it should have been settling in.
It probably blew pretty good in Kiehi for about two hours then.

Saw WS doing well in kihei. Kanaha was gusty. At least you don't have to compete with kites here.

Won't judge on two-week trip but last trip years ago was way better for wind. will consider other options or later July visit next time...

Today looks like wind will be more east that NE...
