Looks as though the forecast is bring in some fall-like stormy winds to New England early Sunday. Anyone planning to hit the water????

Right now I am eyeing N. Mass coast (Cape Ann)/ NH/ Southern Maine as it seems the focus of the winds are in that the area. Planning to be an early bird.

I was checking Google Maps and it looks like there are some beaches near Gloucester/Rockport.

I'm thinking about it.

Usually this time of year half of the locals here are getting up early to catch a church service. I'll ditch the sup and plan to sail at Kalmus before getting kicked out for non payment.

I was going to go to RI. Looking at the forecast now and I see the flaw in my plan. Dead by 8am. Will bring a sup and paddle.

Got a little today up at Devereux. It wasn't easy with some gusty winds (like 10 to 30 and back to 10 in less than a minute), but Fred and I managed to pick off a few nice ones. Fred on a 6.0/SUP; I was on a 5.8/Quatro 110. Personally, I was just feeling good that I made it out past the bone crushers that were jacking up and pounding the beach when I first went out. Antoine reports that he was up in Maine with some all out 4.2 victory at sea conditions with 12 foot breakers and white water as far as the eye could see. A few low quality photos.

Left the house at 3:15 AM.

Checked Windalert and the winds were strongest in Boston Harbor, so decided to venture there since it is the quickest drive and conditions there would be manageable, especially sailing solo. Had considered driving out to Rockport/Gloucester, but forecasted 10-15 foot seas

Arrived in South Boston and rigged and launched just west of the South Boston Yacht Club. Winds were blowing ENE 30-40, rigged the 4.0 and was out on the water by 5:45. Sailed the 4.0 for about 2 hours and came in and rerigged to the 5.0 thinking that the winds were on the decrease, however they came back and were blowing in earnest and made for some fully powered runs. Continued sailing for another 3 hours and quit around 11.

I hope those who sailed further south towards Scituate and Duxbury were able to get in before the wind crashed. Scituate went from 50 to calm in less than an hour (glad I didn't go there...). Winds in Boston Harbor continued to blow 30+ until past 1 PM.

Those waves look sweet compared to the crazy washing machine waves at Nahant Sunday...

Rhode Island Sunday, wind died real early , good surfing all day.

Sailed the same spot today in 14-18mph SW wind, 110quad & sealion, some head high waves still hanging around.
