Bay & Gorge: Video update, heat & monsoonal moisture

Hi Gang,

Today the monsoonal clouds and moisture are just south of the Gorge but we will see more of both this summer so here is a video blog about these clouds.

Most of the west coast will be hot today as a combo of an upper ridge over the western USA and an upper high pressure over the Great Basin create high temps. As as this happens the low pressure in the Columbia Basin and the California Central Valley expands closer to the coast decreasing the pressure gradients.

At the same time the pressure gradient and the wind focuses at sites closer to the coast. So Jone's beach in the Gorge area and Crissy and Peninsula site in the Bay Area are the best bets today.

Watch the 2nd video animation below of the next 12 hours. You can see the heat expanding from the Columbia Basin and the California Central Valley towards the coast and visualize the low pressure spoiling the pressure gradient at sites further from the coast.
