Yes I had some room between the sail and the boom. The boom is really easy to adjust that's nice. I'm not used to adjusting a boom for the conditions only the sail slightly.
I'll sand it slightly to round the edges and report.
Weird that I'm the only one with the issue? _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |

I've been using the new Streamlined head (that Kevin posted a picture of) for about 6 months. It is awesome. For the 1st month I alternated between using my MS boom and using my Streamlined boom, but since then I only use the Streamlined boom. As nice as the MS head is, I like the new Streamlined head even more. |

I filed/sanded the holes easily. Now smooth.
The head is great and stiff, I leave my boom on so I don't have a problem with it but I can see it being a pain otherwise.
Also, the boom height cannot be adjusted without releasing the outhaul.
I did it in the water, it takes longer. I wish the part near the head was of the same diameter.
Otherwise great, light and stiff boom, easy to adjust clips, nice narrow grip.
Makes my old plastic head X9 feel soft! _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |

Pick up the phone and give Streamlined a call 1-760-942-6292 Dave Dominy the owner personally picks up the phone, if you leave a message he will call you back the next day unless he is traveling. He is a very nice smart guy who is always super happy to talk about is gear. |

First I would try getting line, then I would try hard not to weaken the tail piece by enlarging the holes but, would look into adding a pulley (like on race tail) and pass the bolts through the existing holes - take a look at the tail on a Maui race boom or a NP race tail.....you only really need it if you are running adjustable out-haul, you also may be able to buy a race tail from Streamline |

No worries I didn't enlarge anything just rounded the inside edges of the holes. Streamlined told me it was fine. I'm just surprised no one else experienced this.
I do know that when a rope is old, it dries out and the simple friction on the sail eyelet can cause it to fray. So maybe it's a combination of having too old of a rope, too long of a boom and those sharp edges. _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |

Just an update to say that I switched the outhaul to formuline.
I was still getting squeaking from the outhaul rubbing on those holes and since the white rope has better sliding properties it took care of the issue completely. _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |
