My two-piece 14 fiberspar mast wont come apart. My brother and I tried pulling each end but that didnt work. Does anyone have any tricks for disconnecting a jammed lower and upper mast? |

Try 2 tight clamp-on booms near the joint and wiggle it back and forth as you pull it apart. Appling ice and a hair dryer to each end as you do it could help too. |

Thats twist the booms back and forth to grind up the sand or crud thats in the joint, not wiggle. |

I would recommend some man power. When I jammed my CK95 over on Maui I got six guys together (the bigger the better), pulled, and twisted. Another thing, if you dont have a plug in the top of your mast, you may get junk in there before rigging. If there is stuff in there try taking the plug out and flushing it out with water, then pulling. The twisting with the two booms works well also. |

One more trick- put a person on each end of the mast. have each person shake the mast up and down (yes you will look like fools) this will get the joint to flex and move the sand around. next, move up to the joint and twist, should come apart.... |

I could only fit a boom on one side of the mast. On the other side I put on a rubber clamp I picked up at the plumbing store and then used a vice to prevent the clamp end of the mast from turning. Turning and pulling the boom eventually released the two parts-- nonetheless it was quite a production. Thank you for all the advice. |

Just FYI.
Lay either end of mast on two saw horses. Two people on either end pulling and one person in the middle flexing the mast up and down against the saw horses.
Worked for me. |

Hey I had that problem once and used a vice and my boom on opposing ends which worked. Now I put vinyl tape (electrical tape works well too) around the joint every time and Ive never had the problem. The vinyl tape is supposedly reusable. |
