Godsey, on the old windcall site, was going to tell all of us why rio blows in the am or all night. I(WE) all understand why crissy/coyote blows and why rio blows in the pm. (ie thermal diff between coast and inland areas etc) However this does not explain the am blow in rio when Sac is the same temp as SFO. It can blow all night or pick up first thing in the am. Please solve this mystery for us.

Rio Doesnt Blow...
The Valley Sucks !!!

As the valley warms through the day, there is tremendous lifing action as seen by the thunder clouds. As the air lifts, it creates a vacuum sucking in the stable coastal air. Then as the valley cools, the air contracts (basic physics) creating more of a vacuum. It continues to suck all night until the sun starts to warm the air. The contraction stops, the wind in Rio slows, until the afternoon when the whole process starts again.
This is the micro climate. It may be over ruled or enhanced by the larger pressure of weather systems coming in from the Pacific Ocean.
