Today is another great day to learn. I am on the beach and ready for another session. Send a private message to connect for a lesson at Swell, Cheap, or Hatchery. |

Some of the other waterpeople today weren't much interested in yielding for swell riders. Seemed to be in a pretty big hurry to get to the other side. Got chill out lessons? |

I consider myself the interloper when sailing downwind. It's unexpected, so the onus is on me to avoid not only collisions but interfering with everyone else. Of course, *I* get to define "interference". I have no right to expect them to yield, but people who complain just because someone crossed their path need not apply for sympathy, simply because there's not room to "own" one's line of sight.
But neither should they presume I'm not going to screw up. I missed a bud by well under one foot as I slashed across his nose one day, because I didn't look completely behind me, he was in a dumb place (trailing me too closely and just to my lee), and he wasn't thinking ahead and on full alert ... as I am if temporarily in someone's blind spot. |

I am drunk, and I refuse to allow RV shaming to have top bill. Although the rant is somewhat entertaining, as always.
My first surf session is on land and regards safety first. For example, today was the busiest day between Swell and Hatch. parking safety and water safety. I emphasize the importance of not creating circumstances for collision. Don't park on hwy 14. Don't t-bone a baffer. Otherwise, serious injury Or death may ensue. and it will be your fault. Regret is to be avoided at all cost.
We only live once. At least there is no hard evidence to the contrary. So think real hard about your greater environment, including other critters, such as windsurfers and kiters. Sometimes, its best to stay as far away as possible. Today was really FUN, as long as I stayed clear of the hordes. |

If anybody wants to break out of their beam reach rut and surf some swell, get ahold of me via private message. So far, Doug's looks like a good spot for easy fatties to ride, although Rufus/The Wall/Roosevelt could be good too. |
