Would a freerace be a better option , not sure what the big differences are with them compared to slalom board.

In my opinion, yes. Freerace will likely have a little more rocker, move V and a narrower tail. Also more inboard straps. Freerace or freeride are easier and less demanding to ride, and for me - more fun.

some race boards or near race boards in the 125 ish liter range excel at 5.8 to 8.5 sails. never used it down to a 5.0 as exo says it can be used....

i really enjoyed my s-cross 126 with sails that size. comes with a 44 cm g-10 which iis soft and better suited with a larger sail and lighter wind. used a MOLDED carbon 38 fin for 6.2 and smaller.

I have been researching some freerace boards since after some feedback here believe a all out slalom board might be to limiting for my blasting around.
Anyone have any thoughts on Tabou speedster 75 aka 118 liter board to go with a 7.8 and 6.6 meter non cam simmer style vmax?

Or other top notch freerace boards in low 120 liter range.

Thanks

I still support an amateur rider using a fast freeride over a dedicated slalom board. This year, ridden '13 RRD's, Manta's, Naish GP, 107 Isonic, and my board, SS109. I'd go with the Naish or JP, the Naish possibly more comfortable in shape, the JP more comfortable in deck shape.
I"m sure I go faster on fast freeride, jibe waaay better, and can use smaller sails, and even fast wave sails on it.
Of course, pro level rider's can just walk on me, nothing I can do, at 66 and only 150 lbs. Ty, Chenda, Xavier, and even the fastest locals.
