Standard ground shipping at the post office might be cheaper than UPS. You would have to run the numbers on the respective websites as to whether one big package or two smaller packages cost less. I have had sails shipped in just their sail bags with the ends taped shut, or wrapped in plastic and taped or even rolled up in cardboard. Just try to protect the clew end from getting destroyed.

I have UPS shipping software in my computer and can give you an approx. shipping rate. PM me the weight and from/to info and I'll let you know.

Lower 48, Amtrak is always best. Very expensive any other way.

FedEx has, in my experience, more liberal "dimensional weight" calculations than UPS. Easy calculator on their website. Note: pounds and centimeters don't mix.

AMTRAK is great for many point-to-point board shipments but not for sails. The hassle isn't worth the savings as both seller and buyer must personally appear at the respective AMTRAK cargo office

FedEx offers very good rates, but only if you hold a commercial account. Getting one is easy, all you need is a credit card.

Whoa! I don't care if you mix your English and metric units, but Fedex's calculator does. For example, if you put in 35 lb, then 230x30x30 cm, it will change the weight to 35 kg. This may or may not change the estimate, but it is something to be aware of.
