It can go up to the third or 4th big rain event, then thermals die out.
Low rain years usually equal out to early Nov. before it's over. |

Sailed the local pond (Palo Alto) again this Monday. 5.5/90L at slack tide.. so relaxing and nicely powered up. Have sailed 29 of the 31 days of this month of August. Still stoked and addicted after 30 years of windsurfing |

Along the Cali. central coast, it's been an unusually good August.
This last weekend was very spring like with the exception of warm water and air, with good swell and great wind. Today was a bit of a transition day but still fun, 5.2's. |

Oh my .... after almost 29 years of sailing Crissy (December 1986, Fanatic Bat, slogging euphorically along with dagger board and North RAF 5.0 ... sigh ... as it been so long?) my observation is that wind direction in September and October tends to be more southerly, or maybe it is just weaker and does not fill in and it appears to be more southerly. Whatever the reason the wind line often recedes well north west of Anita and it becomes a bit of a pain to sail there, not to mention a bit worrisome. Coyote (or TI) are weaker too, at Da Stick instead late afternoon fall breezes go strong until end of October early November.

Sunday on PCH was the usual assortment of Harley riders, sport bike riders, cyclists, sports car drivers, Sunday drivers, you name it. A couple of dudes pulled over to scream at each other then sped off. A motorcycle rider tipped spilling his female passenger who was not hurt. Parking was a mess the wind died then picked up again. Had fun with a 105l/6.4 combo. |

Don't be jealous, Koosgah, just because I've sailed longer than you have. It's an age thing, not a skill thing.
Look at the credits in Windfinder, or Surfing California, and lo and behold, YOUR name is not there!
Upon further review, MY name is. Gee whiz, who cares! |

Unlike the Stick, where planing right from the beach is almost guaranteed every day, the wind line at Crissy could be a mile out in September. Before the Crissy "improvement", we could at least start near the Coast Guard station by the South Tower, where the wind line was much closer. Parking was 3 times more back in those days too. |

Well, if you spelled my name correctly, you might find it in the credits of numerous well-reviewed porn films from the tail end of the pre-video era. |

Koogzah - from the well received "Tail End" series. He was the lone windsurfer amongst his peers in the industry and actually shot a segment at Crissy Field in the early 80's. He also had a move named after him, "The Willy Skipper." This was before the freestyle movement in windsurfing and had an entirely different meaning in the porn industry, as did the "Shove-It." |

It's so wonderful to meet people who know and appreciate my work. I still have the F2 Strato used in that climactic Crissy Field orgy scene, signed by all six of the actors, including the orangutan. |
