So, it only takes the threat of a few days rain to get me thinking about the NW winter and how to get away to a windy place in March, 2016. Spooked by El Nino, it seems that Maui and La Vantana might not be the place to go this year. Any other ideas?

Have you considered Texas? March and April are usually windy months over there.

Would El Niņo be an issue for the wind at this location?

Carribean.
Or embrace the idea of strong S storm winds, and clearing NW winds, and hit the coast.

Only if one loves floods, incessant rain, and lousy wind.

Again, folks, you REALLY need to SEARCH the forum on Corpus and Padre. There have been hundreds of posts on the topic, from 20 years ago to yesterday.

Sylvie
great to hear from you, and I think I speak for all of us still in the gorge, always great to hear from you and Guy too!
we have heard not so good news about S Padre from the all-knowing; are there any other bits of wisdom and advise from people who sailed there in say April of 1998 during the last BIG el nino? that may be the most similar to what we are facing next year. any insight much appreciated!
Ken
