there does seem to be a large difference in wind density(???) between florida and maui. discussed that b4.

certainly a larger difference between maui and some alpine lakes in europe....

I purchased a 12 M formula sail with 100% carbon mast - I think the op is at the sweet spot. The 9.5m lion is an awesome sail that I end up sailing all the time in our conditions. The SLW would be very similar to my Ultrasonic which also gets a lot of use. If you live somewhere not very windy I think that is a great combo. From what I have heard you might as well go SDM for 460 and up on the mast.

This is the same argument over and over but my vote is for big sails and wide boards any day there is enough wind to plane compared to a longboard.

Lots of Formula sailors think an 11, or even 10.5 sized sail planes up SOONER than a 12.
Most find a 12 hard to pump, which can equal 3-5 mph wind for super light wind planing.
Also, the 70 sized fin might be a touch small for 12 meter sailing.
But, I hope it works well for you.

prior to double luff sails, 12.5 meter sails pumped far more easily.

biggest advantage to going big is glide and off the wind.

70 cm fin is plenty big.

What I meant by < Just sayin' > is... I'm just sayin' that like many here, and around the country (that never post on a forum) I do my part to keep the "stoke going". And offer encouragement to other's.
Windsurfing is an individual sport. But like skiing, snowboarding, biking, and so many other's.... there are also many fun social and group events that we all grow from. I learn something form other people, every time I go with them. Plus it's fun to share a "great time" with other's !!
