Interesting to see the Gorge "haze" even back in the day. You can barely see Beacon Rock?

Looks like the "Women's Forum" (just west of crown point) and I don't remember stairs near the end of the parking lot.

Yep, I agree it is "Women's Forum". No grassy areas on eastern cliffs of Crown Point.

This photo is epic and very funny. The Women's Forum, observing and discussing Iwash, the (phallic) centerpiece and obvious subject of this photo.

I think it's about time for the original name (Iwash) of this landmark to be made official. Times have changed. The Chinook Jargon is still alive and taught in various places. And the term "Rooster Rock" has no direct descriptive value.

Regarding the sandbar, with the Bonneville Dam and little else to backup and control river flow, I'm sure that the Columbia River was closer to its natural character and state at that time.

My picture was taken 4-16-15 from Vista House which is part of the Crown Point area. The island in the picture is called Sand Island according to Google Maps. I think my picture is of the same area.
