Anyone thinking about Hammonasset on Friday ? I was planning on going to RI, but now have a meeting mid day in Bridgeport. If the meeting drags past noon I might consider saving some driving and trying LI sound.

Yes! Should be several of us at Hammo on Friday and Saturday. Shore break is a bit of a problem at high tide in a gale though. Low tide, no problem. really looking forward to it! |

Wind should be side-shore so shorebreak can't be that bad. Where do you usually launch from ? Seems like the two pull off's on the east end of the beach would be easy.

If the wind is west, it will be side on. Launching can be tricky at high tide, but I don't expect it to deter many. Northwest is dead sideshore, so Saturday should work too!
We launch at East Beach and park in the gravel parking lot. It's a bit of a walk to the water, but there are small grassy areas to rig on sheltered from the wind. Some guys park on the side of the road closer to Meigs Point, along with a few kiters. |

Good to know I will have company. If my Bridgeport meeting gets cancelled or I get out early and get through new haven quickly I might be inclined to go to RI, but wouldn't mind a new venue to try.

Long Beach in Stratford is good on a westerly. Side-on. Shore break won't be a problem at high tide if you launch near the jetties. Not sure how many windsurfers will be there, kind of late in the year, but should be some kites up. Pretty popular spot. |

I will report that Hammonasset had decent conditions this afternoon. 3-5ft wind swell, 20-30mph wind. Fun time.

Ron, tell your wife I ate at Lenny and Joes fish tales after sailing.
About a half dozen windsurfers present, who'd have known ? Farthest west in the sound I have ever sailed.
Interesting fewer kites than sails, windsurfing mecca.
