Hi Gang,

The Weather Network has a nice pop account video and text about the Heat Blob that impacted our weather and wind the last year and this fall.

So far this fall the Heat Blob has kept tropical low pressure systems south of Baja creating northerly winds that feel like winter El Norte winds but have an utterly different cause. And the blob help create the recent out of season Hurricane Sandra that largely missed Baja.

http://www.theweathernetwork.com/news/articles/find-out-what-the-blob-says-about-our-changing-climate/60426/

It will be interesting to see how the Blob will interact with the building El Nino.

Rumor has it the blob is back. Does anyone follow that subject and have an opinion on whether or not I should buy the whole family Mt. Baker seasons passes? They aren't cheap. Tickets, gas, and incidentals for a hearty ski season run about the same money as getting the 4 of us to barriles for 2 weeks. But skiing gives us something to do all winter instead of for just two really good weeks. I'd be skiing with kids who aren't picky so it doesn't need to be a record year to be a success. But another 2014 would be a financial bummer.
