If the host country can not fulfill it's obligation to world sailing rules, then they should not be hosting the event.

I didn't know the host was the Makaysian Gov.
I thought the host org.just held the event there.
The Aloha and other events with the PWA do have countries that host an event at times.
South Korea hosted one ,which meant no visa issues.
The US Gov. has never hosted a sailing event, so unfortunately there are always visa issues for the sailors here.

keycocker, if you go back and review a number of Riptide's posts, you'll find that the joint hosts of the Malaysian Event was the ISAF (now World Sailing) and the Malaysian Sailing Association (MSA). From what I understand, the MSA attempted in good faith to work with the Malaysian government on a number of different levels to resolve the visa problem for the Israeli sailors, but the Malaysian government wouldn't budge to allow the open participation of the Israeli sailors in the event. No doubt, an ugly twist in things that we wouldn't normally expect to surface in a youth oriented sports event, but sometimes government authorities just don't care. Overall, I'm sure that the MSA was suitably embarrassed by the whole thing.

Yeah.
That was my point.
Those who run events actually always expect this kind of trouble, and expect it to be blamed on the wrong person.
Every country keeps someone out, esp.the US.
Those of us who promote international events have a problem every time.
Isreali couldn't compete in Belize for years.
It is good to understand that the promoting organization did not cause the visa problem, it is a part of every event, every time.

Those who are new to promoting events get the various authorities confused and blame the closest target, usually the event organizer, and attack them.

This causes the event folks, often volunteers, to let you run the next event and that means no more events.

Have you noticed?

When it comes to being outraged the Isrealis have a remarkable support group.
does anyone care that two other nationalities were also not awarded visas.
Where the outrage for them?

Me, too.
I tried to join the Isreali Army just before the Seven Day War.
It was over so quick they stopped recruiting before I got my US passport.
