Hi,

Looking at purchasing a used JP 2004 Super-X. Anybody recall what year it was that JP recalled boards due to fin box failure?

I don't remember a recall. I had a 2004 3 2 1

You must remember something....?

I would think if it survived since 2004 that it's a not too worry scenario

A local board shop- The Helm of Sun Valley (San Mateo, closed till spring) has several stacked outside all with tails sawed off. finbox issue. I need to contact them. Pristine 2004 JP Super-X purchase on hold.

I worked for JP from 2004-2007, and there was never any recall for bad fin boxes during my time there. Often times, a step in warranty fulfillment is to destroy the defective board by cutting off the tail and sending it back to the distributor. This does not mean the problem was in the tail area of the board. The only "recall" type of problem I saw with JP boards during this time were defective mast track/vents. The vent/mast track is one unit, and some of the vents would crack and leak. It was a pretty easy fix if your board was out of warranty.
