Check out the long range NWS forcasts for April. The first one was put out March 17...then they updated it the 31st and all is lost. Yikes. Unusual for such a big shift in outlook I think.

I'm not 100% on what I'm seeing here. Is that a wind outlook and now we are not going to be graced with said wind? Or is that heat?

This is the long range temperature probability outlook for April. The colors tell you if it is expected to be warmer or colder than "normal" on average for the month. The darker reds are very much warmer. The darker blues are very much cooler, and there are gradations in between. No color means equal chance of a bit warmer or a bit cooler...basically close to average for the time of year.

The first look at the long range temp & precip forecast for an upcoming month is available at the above link around the 3rd Thursday of the preceding month.

Seems like warm winter usually equals cool spring.
I used to look at these NOAA maps before each ski season. We got 600 inches of snow during one "Below average" year. I stopped looking after that.

I just want to know when I can put the snow blower away
JPeter you may be right on the warm winter equals cold spring and visa versa. Last year's record cold snowy Boston winter did not require snow blowing in April...or maybe I helped a bit due to me having that thing gassed up and ready into June!

I'm no weather expert even though I keep track of it constantly, but as far as temperature goes I know that the annual averages usually stay about the same, at least where I live. So if there is a long period of above average temp like we had all winter the pendulum is gonna swing the other way and we are in for a cool summer. What does this mean for windsurfing? I don't really know but here around lake Erie a crappy summer usually means great windsurfing.

Isn't it always cold up in the Great White North?...our jet stream comes from there when we get cold in New England
