I am considering buying a 98 Bic Veloce 328. If anyone knows of anything about this board I should watch out for I would appreciate the info! Is it easy to find parts? is the mast track reliable? Anything you can tell me would be helpful. |

I use a 97 veloce 310 and I dont see me parting with anytime soon.Testing reports always gave them a thumbs up,the only problem I had was traction wearing off but that is easily fixed.Very durable board. |

Ive had a 328 since Aug 98. I love it.Mast track is fine, but not adjustable on the fly. Parts should be no problem either. Ive been sailing since 96 and got this board because it would probably last me for at least 5-7 years, while I pay off my kids college expenses. I liked that it was nearly the widest board you could buy at the time (the HiFly Magnum had just come out around this time) so you wont feel desparate to get the newest wide bodies. The 328 is everything I need in a post-beginner to
intermediate long board to help me learn and have fun in all wind conditions except the most extreme, and in many wave conditions, including going out in Lake Erie rollers of around 3. If you buy sails over 6.5, definitely get a longer fin than the high quality 13.75 that comes with it. Happy Sailing!! |

You ask about the mast track. I believe it was the 96 that had the on-the-fly adjustable one. Mine works fine, tho I had to buy a new mast foot last year, from The House. A forgiving board, I learned to waterstart with it. In 97 they came out with a lighter, no-centerboard version. It definitely requires a big fin. A pretty big guy used plain pretty early with his and a 7.5 in Berkeley. I dont sail mine anymore, but use it to teach beginners. Its a little small for that duty (anybody want to sell a Go cheap?) but it is a lot better for learning than the Equipe I started with. |
