I think that is a great idea! I had an 80 lb two person kayak; wound up selling it because of the hassle of lifting it on and off the car! Wish I'd thought of it but now I'm windsurfing. The board has gotten away from me once on a high wind day and went smashing into the pavement (not into another car, but still).

I'm impressed by your sheer will to go windsurfing. Considering the circumstances you have to work with this a great solution.
