The Cape Hatteras sea temp is 69 degrees ... almost the highest water temp the Gorge ever sees. That's board shorts temps. According to these data, it never gets below comfortable barefoot temps:

But not having been there in January, I'll leave that call up to the locals.

Lol

No one refers to the Outer Banks as CAPE, it's Hatteras , OBX

Cape is Cope Cod.

THE AIR temp in Hatteras has been from lo 50s to mid 60. Very few are in board shorts, most wetsuits some shorties .

A few people were out with Bare feet the other day at West Dennis Beach on CAPE cod.

I didn't get a chance to go to CAPE Hatteras this spring but I would think bare feet is fine on CAPE Hatteras.

Ive always called it Cape Hatteras but im old now.

During Thursday's fine sound side session (Frisco), windy, drizzle, everyone in full suits, one young Canadian was in shorts and rash guard. Must have driven all the way down from Nunatuk or least Labrador as he didn't find it at all chilly. Rolling Eyes

On cape cod not yet.
I am surprised that water is not warmer.
Was in the 40's in March
Still only mid 40's.
Need 50 for no booties.

April has been cold and so far may not much better.

Hope temps pop up soon.

I was in the water yesterday and it was definitely over 50 as it was warmer than the Chilly Air! -

Heading over to West Dennis now and may try without boots.

That's what another Canuck thought of the Gorge one nice September day ... until we had to rescue his hypothermic butt. After he got got warmed up, he went back out ... in a full suit.
