Guesscast about return of North Pacific High

Hi Gang,

4-5 days ago I made a guesscast that we would have a spell with very little NW wind this week. So far that has been the case but that was an easy bet with the Cut-Off Low sending the NPH packing to the Gulf of Alaska.

Much more iffy was my guesscast that the North Pacific High's surface NW winds would return this Sunday, May 15.

Making a forecast that far out is as much art as science. The easy part is looking at where the North Pacific High is likely to be located in 4-5 days. But equally important is the location of upper level winds, the winds just aloft, the pressure gradient to various points in the Central Valley and the gradient to the Great Basin.

So far, as the imagery below suggests, my guesscast is on track. Put keep your eggs ready since I have a lot of exposure here.....
