Hey, those waves look like they may have been edited in Photoshop.

But there actually are breaking waves in the Berkeley area! Remember the day below? Great small long board wave!

OMG I was road biking on Skyline (Oakland Hills) that day and there were crowds of Latinos all along the road so I had to stop and ask if they were having a parade way up here or what?

Their answer: We're up here because there is going to be a Tsunami!

Better safe than sorry I guess, LOL

I've surfed the Ashby Shoal (launched from CSC) a couple times. You need a big west swell, no wind, and a low tide. The wave can get up to about waist high... a slow, crumbly wave that kind of just rolls along, but with a big board you can get a 10+ second ride. Probably makes a lot more sense to paddle out from Emeryville.
