Original post:
If your water time is at one of the Bay Area sites where NW ocean winds are critical you are probably cursing the Cut-Off Low/Upper Trough that has interfered with those winds in recent days.

So get ready... there is yet another Cut-Off Low at ≈ 18,000 ft. moving towards the west coast. But this one looks like it will be a blessing.

For the story check out this blog:

Hi Gang,

Just a quick update to the post and blog above. It now looks like the North Pacific High begins to shove a ridge into the Pacific Northwest Friday making the winds a bit weaker and later due to NNW wind just aloft. So Wednesday and Thursday may be the peak days especially for sites east of Treasure Island. Nothing epic but good wind at many sites.

New animation below shows Friday winds at the surface and at 3000 feet. The NNW winds aloft you see in the animation tend to delay the arrival of the NW curving into the bay and make them a bit weaker at sites further away from the coast.

Mike

After this horrible spring, I am honestly considering taking up shuffleboard.
