|
|
Due to construction Little Baja will not be available to us this year; however, RVWA SIKO is creating a kite launch in addition to the windsurf launch at The Access. The kite launch will be approximately 100' downwind of the historic windsurfing launch. A larger porta potty has been installed at The Access to serve as a changing room in addition to the other units.
The road and parking to The Access has also changed to accommodate construction. One will now stay on the main road paved levee road all the way to the launch and then turn left on the gravel road towards the marina. Shortly after that turn one will take another left turn on a road that goes down to the toe of the levee and that general area is the parking lot.
Please avoid and respect all construction sites- if we are a nuisance then the State will simply disallow our use outside of the County Park. Do we all want to be jammed in Sherman Island Park- I think not.
If you need to make an emergency water exit we ask that you use The Access launches or go down to The Sign- areas in between are in the construction zone and off limits. We recognize this could be a haul but to avoid the dangers of the construction site this is a must.
RVWA SIKO is negotiating with the State to secure a larger and enhanced Little Baja kite launch after construction. Please don't mess up this opportunity by not following the rules- they're for everyone's safety.
Thanks!
Mike

Well put. Many of us were at the park last week and it was quite crowded. |

Right now we have to share the kite launch just up river of the Access launch. There is a huge tree blocking the Access launch that the fisherman have taken a liking to.

Same big log blockage is happening at The Sign day-use launch. We need someone with a very big chainsaw to put a big notch in these logs to allow passage through them. Work day is next Sat the 28th- anyone have a big ass chainsaw

You might want to wait for a max high flood tide and use a number of folks to float the large tree trunk away up the river. I've seen George Ground and his wife do this in the past at Powerlines. Also, I would think that a few long steel pry or wrecking bars would give you the necessary leverage to get things moving. |

The log at the kite launch at The Access has been cut into pieces. Presumably it's gone now. |
