Lopez was this low back in Dec of 1992 at 466.76ft, compared to today's level of 466.86ft, so it does happen. And it was full and overflowing 5 years later in 1997. Just 5 years ago it was within a few feet of overflow too. Looking back at data from decades ago it rarely ever dropped below 500ft until after 1990 (quick scan). Perhaps the 5 cities area started drawing a lot more Lopez water as that is when places like Grover Beach had major building expansions. Data seems to show it going down faster than it used to. Whatever the cause, watching the Lopez wind meter show 21/25 right now (like yesterday) and living just a few minutes away is disappointing. No wind at the ocean until the middle of next week either.

Here's the link for Lopez historic water level data: http://www.slocountywater.org/site/Water%20Resources/Data/Reservoirs/Lopez/

Sad indeed. I too, believe Lopez will come back to sailable water level eventually. Good thing we have another big body of water that's nearby to sail... and it's only getting bigger! Nice 5.2 yesterday building to 4.7 as I left. Should be more today Very Happy

Wouldn't it be a good time to remove 50 years of sediment and increase the capacity

The lake gained about one foot of water from the storms last week, and now a whole new series of storms are starting today.
Keep in mind that the lake filled to capacity in just two seasons after the dam was first built............ if I recollect correctly.
