Has "Nuked" been used to describe the wind since the 90's? I'm not sure whether its nuked since, but when I lived in the area from 1990-1994, and sailed there regularly, I got exactly one 4.0 day at Cabrillo beach. Just me and one other guy went out. Most of the other locals stood around and watched, stating it was too windy. I don't think any of them owned sails below 5.0 at the time. Coming from NorCal, I kept all my stuff and thus, already had the 4.0 in my quiver.
At Cabrillo, I was on a 6.0 most of the time and happy when I could use something in the low 5's. We also would drive up to Malibu (Leo Carillo) or Jalama on the weekends for more excitement. I never scored C-street in Ventura, but man did that wave look sweet.
Bottom line, bring the big stuff. Worst case, you sail OP. Better than having too small of stuff and not sailing at all...

It nuked on this particular day at County Line in May 2014. I was on a 4.1 and still over-powered. Sail and photo courtesy of Mr. Watson.

Sweet pic @MikeUzi!
In case anyone in the future might be helped by this, I brought my 6.3. and 5.3 and it was the right choice. The 5.3 was perfect for the 18-23 ish wind I got two days last week. This week it's been blowing less and although I've been busy at work had I gone out I'd have used the 6.3.
Agree with earlier comment that the lull on iwindsurf seems to be the avg... Pro forecast on iwindsurf is very helpful.
Cabrillo is a great spot - nice to see a large community of friendly windsurfers; nice beach, restrooms and water; grass to rig on; enough swell to jump. Awesome that it is windy so regularly here. And, I saw a dolphin and seal while out.. pretty cool!
That seaweed is no joke though - never been in that before - learned that it's a very bad idea to try to plow through it at high speeds ha...
Headed up to Sac Delta later this week. Friend bringing my 4.5...

I am headed to Ventura, and wondered if c street may worth a sail. Any thoughts on today's forecast?

Big problem at C Street for the next couple weeks. The Ventura County Fair is going on right now, so the regular pay parking lot is closed. Your best bet is Emma Wood State Park, but it's a bit pricey without a state park pass.

My definition of "Nuke" (and that of most I sail with) is of a large burly
male blown off the water on a 3.2. If it's 4.1 (even overpowered), it's
not nuke'n. But I do agree, that I haven't heard the term used since
about 1999. ;*)
